Dr. Isaac Choutapalli earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University in 2007 specializing in fluid mechanics. He is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Choutapalli’s current major research is on high-thrust aero-propulsion devices, which can double overall thrust. He has made significant contributions to this area through his research. His recent work also focuses on methods to simultaneously increase lift and reduce drag on lifting surfaces such as airfoils. Dr. Choutapalli is also a recognized expert in optical flow diagnostic techniques such as the Particle Image Velocimetry that uses Laser based methods to study flows through nozzles and over airfoils. He also directs the Fluid Dynamics Research Laboratory that he started at the university.
