Mauricio Salinas is used to being a pioneer of sorts. He was the first UTPA engineering graduate to work at Texas Instruments (now with Raytheon) in Dallas, and he was the first student who graduated from the UTPA engineering program to earn a doctorate. He even has a patent disclosure under his belt.

A finance major, Armando even worked at the Edinburg Teachers Credit Union across from the campus.
