Walking groups have been cancelled due to low participation. Organized walking groups will begin again starting May 1st. Anyone interested in becoming a walking group leader please contact Fitness Coordinator Colette Cabot.
HEALTHY POTLUCK LUNCH & WALK
The third Thursday of every month Wellness & Recreational Sports will host a wellness walk and healthy potluck from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. Bring walking shoes and a healthy dish to share (dishes should serve about 6-8 people). Recipe notes are also encouraged.

HEALTHY COOKING 101
Learn about nutrition, healthy living strategies, and meal preparation. This demo is taught by current UTPA Dietetic students and features hands on food preparation. Class meets at the WRSC the first Tuesday of every month from 12:15pm - 1:00pm. No class for the month of May.
* Tuesday, March 4th Healthy Cooking 101 will be on campus for the dietetic health fair.
WEIGHT WATCHERS @ WORK
UTPA has partnered with Weight Watchers to offer UTPA faculty/staff the opportunity to attend Weight Watchers meetings on campus. Group meetings are on Wednesdays at the WRSC at 12:00 pm OR Wednesdays at Student Health Services at 5:30 p.m. UTPA subsidizes up to 40 Weight Watchers memberships. Those interested in the program must contact Fitness Coordinator Colette Cabot for availabilityand directions for registration.

Bronc Wellness is a weight loss program that meets on Wednesdays from 4:00pm - 5:00pm. Led by senior dietetic interns, this program includes weekly weigh-ins, group activities and discussion, and mini-lectures. FREE. No registration needed.
DEPARTMENT FITNESS CHALLENGE
January 27 – March 14
The annual Department Fitness Challenge is back! This 7-week challenge UTPA departments combine forces to support one another in losing weight. Teams are made up of 5 or more individuals (2 departments can be combined if the department is small). Groups are encouraged to exercise together to support one another. Captains must be identified, team members names submitted and all pre-weigh in completed.
Captains must identify themselves via e-mail to email@example.com by Friday, January 24th 5:00pm. Captains must include their name, department, and contact information. Captains are responsible for relaying information to team members. Captains will receive an offical roster of their teammates January 27th.
All participants must weigh in at the Wellness Center between January 20th - January 24th. Please print off and submit this form to the Weight Cardio attendant.

Discover how to live well and be well for life. The 2nd Annual Employee Health and Wellness expo will feature vendors from on and off campus to help you and your family live well. Join us for mini group exercise classes, free massages, and healthy snacks.

The Wellness Walk is a kickoff celebration to the UT System Physical Activity Challenge. This is a great opportunity to meet other UTPA employees in the challenge and gain a few extra steps for the day. President Nelson will speak about the importance of employee wellness and lead the 30- minute welness walk.
10,000 STEP CHALLENGE
The average American takes approximately 3,000 – 4,000 steps per day. The 10,000 step challenge encourages faculty/staff to take at least 10,000 steps per day to increase physical activity and improve health status. Faculty/Staff that sign up for the UT Living Well Challenge (Starts May 1st 2014) will receive a free pedometer to track their progress (while supplies last).
FITNESS LEADERSHIP SERIES
The fitness leadership series is for those who want to promote physical activity in the workplace and help co-workers get healthy! Each fitness leadership module will focus on group instruction, communication, class formatting, safety, and exercise modification. After completion of each module participants will have a better understanding of how to successfully lead a fitness class for co-workers. All sessions will be held at MASS 2.124.
