Community Service

Looking for volunteer opportunities? The Office for Student Involvement’s Community Service Connection will pair you with local non-profit agencies looking for volunteers just like you!

Our goal is to stimulate a change within UTPA students to produce an outcome that not only addresses community needs, but also allows students to gain important life skills. We do this by:

  • Connecting students and student organizations to service and volunteerism opportunities on campus and within the local community
  • Facilitating a connection between UTPA students and community organizations and agencies seeking volunteers
  • Promoting and implementing service projects on and off campus
  • Providing a quality Alternative Break experience for participants

Alternative Breaks Program
What are you doing during your school breaks? If you enjoy volunteering and are passionate enough to give up a week of your time, apply for our Alternative Breaks Program and make a difference! Alternative Breaks occur during academic breaks like Spring Break and Winter Break, so check our BroncLink page to keep up-to-date with details!

Campus Wide Service Projects
These projects are held throughout the year and are a way for UTPA students, faculty, and staff to come together and serve the community. Adopt-A-Beach clean-up, Make A Difference Day, Feast-of-Sharing, and Adopt-an-Angel are service events in the Fall. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service and United To Serve are in the Spring.
