Adaptive Equipment Policy

Students whose accommodations allow them to check out adaptive equipment from the DS office must do so on a semester basis. Equipment is available on a first come, first serve basis. Any equipment not returned will result in a hold being placed on the student’s account.

 

Policy

The student understands that in order to be able to check out adaptive equipment, it must first be approved as one of his/her accommodations by the Disability Services (DS) Documentation Review Committee. The student also understands that he/she is personally responsible for any damage that may occur to the adaptive equipment borrowed from Disability Services. If the adaptive equipment is lost, damaged, or stolen while in the studentís possession the student understands that he/she must personally pay to replace the adaptive equipment. A hold is placed on the studentís university records until such payment is made.

The student understands that failure to return adaptive equipment to Disability Services by the last day of final exams for the semester will result in a hold being placed on the studentís university record.

Equipment must be returned at the end of the semester for inventory purposes. It may be checked out again the following semester.
