Purpose
The purpose of the Cost of Education Committee (COEC) is to review the proposed rates for designated tuition, incidental, mandatory, E&G and auxiliary fees and charges, and making a recommendation to the President on these and other matters regarding the cost of education.
Responsibilities
The Cost of Education Committee will engage in discussions on budget issues related to the committee's purpose and will host multiple forums on proposals presented to the committee and on the draft recommendations of the committee. It will also engage the requestors as well as a broad spectrum of students, alumni, parents and the greater community in a transparent process. The committee will provide the president with a written report on the recommendations and the context of its decisions.
Membership (25 total; 20 voting)
- Vice President for Student Affairs (ex-officio, non-voting)
- Student Government Association President (ex-officio, voting)
- 2 members recommended for appointment by the Faculty Senate
- 1 member recommended for appointment by the Staff Senate
- 1 member recommended for appointment by the Vice President for Business Affairs
- 1 member recommended for appointment by the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
- 1 member recommended for appointment by the Chief Information Officer for Information Technology
- 2 members appointed by the President (recommended by Vice President for Student Affairs)
- 1 member consisting of 1 student per each of the 7 colleges recommended for appointment by the Student Government Association
- 1 member (must be graduate student) recommended for appointment by the Student Government Association President and confirmed by the Student Senate
- 1 member (must be a non-resident student) recommended for appointment by the Student Government Association President and confirmed by the Student Senate
- 1 member (must be a parent) recommended for appointment by the Parent and Family Association
- Dean of Students (ex-officio, non-voting)
- Director of Student Financial Services (ex-officio, non-voting)
- Associate Vice President and Budget Director (ex-officio, non-voting)
- Executive Director for Information Technology Services (ex-officio, non-voting)
