Freshman
A Freshman applicant is a student that will soon graduate from high school or that already graduated from high school and has not enrolled in college after high school graduation. GED and Home Schooled students are also considered Freshman as long as they have not attended a college or university after receiving their diploma.

A Transfer applicant is a student that is an undergraduate from another college or university.

A Readmit applicant is a former UTPA student that has not enrolled at another college or university since he or she last attended UTPA.

Concurrent Enrollment
A Concurrent Enrollment applicant is a student that is either a junior or a senior in high school seeking to take college courses while in high school.

Non-Degree Seeking
A Non-Degree Seeking applicant is a student that has earned a bachelor’s degree and wants to enroll in college courses for professional improvement. This type of applicant is also known as Post Baccalaureate.

Second Degree
A Second Degree applicant is a student that has earned a bachelor’s degree and unlike the Post Baccalaureate applicant, seeks to pursue another undergraduate degree in a different major.

Transient
A Transient applicant is a student that is seeking acceptance to UTPA only during the summer sessions. A Transient applicant will return to his or her home institution the following semester.
