Purpose

To describe the process for requesting a manual VPN access account from the Network Services Department.

Scope

For departmental personnel authorized to request the creation of VPN access accounts for personnel, or others, who require remote Virtual Private Network access to the UTPA secured local area network.

Prerequisites

Administrative/managerial control to authorize and request creation of VPN access accounts.

Responsibilities

Requestor is responsible for assuring that the appropriate forms have been filled out and that assurances have been met by the person who is to receive VPN account access. Currently the IT Security Department is tasked with this responsibility and is required to authorize the creation of any new VPN access accounts.

Procedure

1. Contact the security department for the appropriate forms and information required before a VPN access account can be created.
2. Security department will coordinate the creation of the VPN account with Network Services Department and will distribute the VPN credentials to the requestor of the account.
