Purpose
The goal of this procedure is to provide the steps necessary for a “Request Access to Web Site” process.
|
Scope
This procedure is intended for all Current Staff members of the Internet Services Department.
|
Prerequisites
A viable UTPA e-mail Account must be in existence (in order to be able to access the University server).
|
Responsibilities
Web Developer
|
Procedure
- When initial request is received via E-mail, Web Developer who is on call for Webhelp should respond to the request. The Web Developer will ask the customer to forward a Web Services Request Form to begin processing the request. Refer customer to the Internet Services “Request a Web Site” web page. Instructions for the form are included in the web page: http://www.utpa.edu/it/internetservices/request.htm
- When the customer completes and submits the Web Services Request Form to the Director, the Director will assign the request to the Web Developer who began the initial contact.
- Web Developer will revise the Web Services Request Form for the specifications checked and for special instructions.
- If a signature is missing, return Form and contact Customer
- If Budget Account is not provided, web request cannot be processed. The Budge Account is required to insure that department head or immediate supervisor is aware that Customer is requesting access to the respective web site.
- If all signatures are included and all required information is complete, the Web Developer will then contact the Systems Team to begin process for access.
- The Web Developer will submit an “access” e-mail request by providing the UTPA username for the Customer requesting access to the respective web site. Also, specify in what directory the web site is located if it is not a Portal web site.
- If the respective web site is in Portal, the assigned Web Developer must contact the team’s Developer who is authorized to grant access. Submit e-mail to webhelp@utpa.edu with the username and assigned roles.
- If necessary, meet with the Customer to specify and clarify the requirements as content managers and content editors for the respective web site.
Identify who will be a content contributor and who will be approving changes (for workflow).
