Approved USB Flash Drives
Information Technology and the Information Security Office have researched a number of currently available USB flash drives for security features.
U.T. System policy requires all sensitive data, such as social security numbers, credit cards, and all other personally identifiable data on portable devices to be encrypted as prescribed by Security Practice Bulletin #1

IT recommends the following USB Flash drive to transport and encrypt data:
Kingston DataTraveler Secure Privacy (DTSP) available in 1GB, 2GB, 4G and 8GB.
This USB Flash drive secures 100 percent of data via 256-bit hardware-based AES encryption.
The software necessary to unlock the device does not require administrative privileges allowing it to be used in a variety of limited access environments. This device is for use on Windows only (2000/XP/Vista).
For more information on DTSP see:

DTSP can be purchased from Staples Business Advantage, UTPA's primary office supplies provider, and other vendors.
