Veteran Student Organization

Good morning and good afternoon to all. This is an example of a previous meeting that occurred during the Spring 2010 semester. We encourage students who are serious about making a difference and being active to become members of the Veteran Student Organization and SALUTE. The Veterans Honor Society. Please come by our office and ask how you can join today!

In this weeksmeeting, which was scheduled at 11:30am due to the required Workshop:Space Reservation taking place at 12 noon the same day. If you were unable to make it, don’t worry we are going to meet again next week on Tuesday at 12 noon at the Veterans Service Center office room 218. The following information was covered at this week’s meeting.

1 We continued discussing the direction of our organization. We continue to work towards completing the requirement neededto finalize and establish our organization on campus. We are working closely with each other and appreciate all the participationour members contribute. If you have a chance to attend our meetings or workshop please do, as it will give you a chance to meet others within our organization and allow you to develop a network of contacts.

2 This weeks workshopResource 25: Space Reservationwas very informative. It also reminded us of how important it is to be prepared whenwe begin planning for a fund-raising event. We will need to know whowill beable to participate, which locations and what we will be selling, ahead of time.We understand that everyone will not be able to attend every event but we do ask that you try to participate in some events. If you are able to participate, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can plan accordingly. The next workshop (Risk Management)will beon March 5th at the University Center Ballroom from 5:30 to 9pm, with registration starting at 5pm.

3 Future Events: On April 16th there will an event for Veterans, we would like to havesomething to present to them as a token ofappreciation for all that they've done.We havereceived some suggestions and we are still open to any other suggestions from our members.Don't forget that in March, the festival of International Books and Arts “Festiva Days” will take place, between the days of the 22nd and the 27th. We need to know how many of our members will be able to participate at that event so that we can plan accordingly.Ifyou would like to participate in this event send us an email so we can confirmyour participation. I would like to remind our members that this event will only allow 30 organizations to participate and on a first come, first served basis. The sooner we know who is able to participate the sooner we can prepare for it.

4 Lastly we would like to get everyone's input about establishing membership dues within our organization. The dues would be beneficial for our organization, as they would help to cover associated costs. We would like your input. If you have an opinion, you can submit it to me and I will voice your opinion at our next meeting. We look forward to hearing from you.
