Loans at UTPA

UTPA realizes that managing the cost of education is a challenge for most families. In addition to grants, scholarships, and federal work-study funds that may be awarded to students, several loan options are available.

Loans are a type of financial aid whereby the source of funding allows you to spread the cost of your education over time. Loans are available from various sources including federal and state government, and UTPA and private lenders.

As you progress toward your degree completion, the amount of loan(s) you are awarded at UTPA typically increases. The dollar amount of these loans may be based on federal limits, year in school, dependency status, cost of attendance, and other financial aid received.
New for Fall 2008
As part of UTPA’s switch to Direct Lending, all students receiving Stafford Loan funds for 2008-2009 must submit a new Master Promissory Note as well as complete a new Entrance Counseling.  The links to both processes are provided below.  Please note that you will need your FAFSA PIN number to electronically sign your Master Promissory Note as well as enter your Entrance Counseling.
