P.O.W.E.R. Life Skills Program
The mission of the Broncs P.O.W.E.R. Life Skills Program is to enhance the holistic development of our student-athletes in five core areas: Athletics, Academics, Personal Growth, Career, and Community Service/leadership. We are dedicated to providing services that will Promote Overall Wellness, Excellence, and Responsibility. Throughout the year, student-athletes have the opportunity to attend various programs and workshops that will better prepare them for life beyond college. Student-athletes are also encouraged to become involved in leadership activities, peer tutoring, mentoring and giving back to the surrounding community. Our goal is to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience during their years at The University of Texas-Pan American.
The P.O.W.E.R. Program consists of a variety of workshops designed to address current issues, including diversity, affecting the personal development of the student-athlete. Workshop topics are chosen based upon an online NCAA Needs Assessment, which is completed each fall semester. *Each P.O.W.E.R. workshop will count towards study hall hours and/or positive points in the Team Point System (See Academic Support and Student Service Policy)
