Types of Scholarships

Scholarships are an excellent way to help support your undergraduate or graduate education at The University of Texas Pan American. Scholarships are form of financial assistance that does not require repayment or employment. These are awarded based on merit, need or a combination of the two, usually reflecting the values and purpose of the donor or program. Scholarships are highly competitive and have specific eligibility criteria such as gpa, major, entrance exam scores,etc. Scholarships are available from federal, state, institutional and private sources such as corporations, foundations and organizations. Some scholarships have their own separate application and application deadlines.



Endowed – Established via a Gift Agreement through UTPA’s Development Office.

Institutional – Funds allocated through UTPA’s annual budget process.

Grants and Contracts – A portion of a Grant or Contract is allocated for scholarship purposes.

State – Established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Private – Funds provided to students by off-campus agencies.
