Process for Applying for Financial Aid
Applying for financial aid is an annual process. In order to determine if you qualify for financial aid, comply with the following FINAID guide below.

Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA)
You can apply for federal student aid online at www.fafsa.gov. The FAFSA application for the upcoming year becomes available January 1st each year. For a list of documents and information you will need to fill out your FAFSA click here (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/before003.htm).
To complete your FAFSA online be sure that you and one of your parents (if required) apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to expedite the process. You only need to apply for a PIN once and you can use your assigned PIN each year you apply.

Apply for admission
If you have not yet been admitted to the University of Texas- Pan American, submit your application as soon as possible. We will only award students who have been admitted as a degree-seeking student to UTPA. Students admitted as Transient students or in Conditional status are not eligible to receive financial aid.

Need help completing an online service? No problem! Stop by and visit the Financial Aid Express Lab (located right next to the Financial Aid Office in the 1st floor of the Student Services Building). If you need assistance in completing the FAFSA, bring in your required document and a knowledgeable financial aid team member will be more than happy to help.

Deadline - April 1st
The University of Texas- Pan American’s priority deadline is April 1st. You are encouraged to apply as early as possible. If we have received your FAFSA, you’ve been admitted as a degree seeking student to UTPA and you have submitted all requested documentation you are now ready to be processed for financial aid. The review of your information could take between 3 to 10 business days depending on the time of year and type of documentation requested. If all required information is on file by the priority deadline of April 1st you will have a much higher chance of having your financial aid package ready by payment deadline.
