2013 Institutional Test Dates for students
IMPORTANT NOTICE: In September 2003, the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) replaced the TASP Exam with the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) & ACCUPLACER Exams. If you were not exempt from TASS or TAKS at your high school and your ACT score was below a 23, then you are required to be assessed with THEA or ACCUPLACER. THEA is a paper/pencil exam that measures Math, Reading and Writing skills. TSI requires all students to be tested prior to enrolling in college level coursework in the areas of reading, math and writing. For advisement on TSI please contact the TSI office at 956/381-2529.
You must register a minimum of ONE WEEK in advance, but are encouraged to register earlier due to limited seating. Registrations are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis and *standbys are welcome. .
Test Fee: $15.00 registration fee will be required upon registration. All registration is now available ONLINE ONLY.
Registered examinees please remember to bring the following items on test date:
- Valid photo identification card. You WILL NOT be permitted without a VALID photo ID. Examples of acceptable forms of identification can be found on www.thea.nesinc.com.
- A basic four-function non programmable calculator. Scientific or graphing calculators will NOT be accepted. Cell phones may NOT be used as a calculator.
- A check/money order or credit card in the amount of $29.00 made payable to N.E.S.
*STANDBYS are welcome but are NEVER guaranteed a seat.
SCORES will be sent to you and the schools or universities you selected by mail approximately 10 to 15 days after you have tested.
RETEST POLICY: Examinee must wait 30 days to retest for a Q-THEA. This policy also applies if you have tested at another institution. Students who retest before the 30-day limit will have their scores canceled and their money will not be refunded.
TEST TAKERS WITH DISABILITIES
Nonstandard testing accommodations are available for test takers who meet eligibility criteria. Please contact the Office for Services for Persons with Disabilities at (956) 316-7005 for more information. Nonstandard testing accommodations must be done 2 weeks prior to test date.
