CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

Welcome!

Concurrent Enrollment allows academically talented high school juniors and seniors to enroll in University courses and receive college credit. Concurrent Enrollment opportunities are offered through both distance learning and on-campus attendance programs. The High School to University Program makes tuition incentives available to qualified students from participating school districts.

A great way to prepare for college!

Whether attending classes on campus or participating through distance learning, you will have the opportunity to interact with University professors and students. You will be encouraged to utilize UTPA’s outstanding academic and recreational facilities and participate in a wide variety of University events. As a result, you can graduate from high school knowing you can succeed at the university level.

A more challenging academic curriculum!

Through Concurrent Enrollment you will be encouraged to challenge yourself and reach beyond the high school classroom. Take full-fledged university-level courses and perform at a much higher level than you ever thought possible.

Benefits of Excellence in High School and Beyond

UTPA Concurrent Enrollment offers many benefits that you may be able to utilize while still a student in high school and on into your college career.

College credit!

Upon high school graduation, you may already have completed many of your “basic” college requirements through Concurrent Enrollment, giving you the flexibility to graduate early and/or to pursue a second major. As an accredited four-year university, UTPA awards credit that is accepted at all Texas public institutions of higher learning and most private and out-of-state colleges and universities.

Distinguished Achievement Program measurements!

You may use your Concurrent Enrollment credit to help you meet the qualification criteria for high school graduation under the Distinguished Achievement Program.

High school credit!

In addition to earning university credit through UTPA, some high schools offer students dual credit by allowing the course credit to be utilized to fulfill high school requirements.

Special recognition and scholarship opportunities!

Completing Concurrent Enrollment courses at UTPA with a high grade point average may provide you with academic recognition that could open the door for academic programs and scholarship opportunities.
