Standing Committees

Fiscal Committee

• All legislation concerning expenditures must go through this Committee
• It may recommend approval, modification, or rejection of legislation concerning expenditures.
• Fiscal's Committee jurisdiction shall include matters relating to the following areas: appropriations and Student Government Association budget
• Review Special Fund Requests

Meetings every Friday at 9:30am in Science Building rm 3.212

Public Relations Committee

• This committee shall have jurisdiction over the planning and conducting of all Student Senate sanctioned University special events. It promotes public relations with students, faculty, administration, and the community
• It promotes public relations with students, faculty, administration, and the community
• This committee is responsible for recruitment for the Student Government Association
• Helps SGA to be known at most UTPA events

University and Community Affairs Committee

• This committee shall have jurisdiction over the researching, coordinating and execution of Student Senate sanctioned issues.
• It has authority to organize forums for the purpose of addressing constituent’s issues. (Town Halls)

Personnel Committee

• This committee may recommend to the Student Senate approval or disapproval of Presidential nominations for appointments.
• Present the case to the Student Senate against a student Senator for failure to perform his or her duties and may recommend sanctions against that senator.
• It conducts training for the Student Senate on Robert’s Rules of Order and other topics as deemed necessary.
