1) What are the WRSC operational hours?
Fall & Spring: Monday through Friday, 6am – 10pm / Saturday, 8am-8pm / Sunday, 12pm-7pm
Summer Session: Monday through Friday, 7am-9pm / Saturday, 8am-6pm / Sunday, 12pm-6pm
2) Who is allowed in the WRSC?
UTPA Students, Faculty/Staff, Alumni, Retirees, Spouses, and Dependents (children ages 4–17)
3) What are some of the group exercise classes offered at the WRSC?
Zumba, aerobox, pilates, yoga, spinning, water aerobics, ab blast, lower body blast, boot camp, hardcore, step and sculpt
4) How do I obtain a parking permit?
The UTPA Police Department issues parking permits with proof of a WRSC Membership. Passes will be valid for a month so you must renew your parking permit on a monthly basis.
5) Do you offer personal training?
We do not currently offer personal training but we do offer workout log sheets for individuals wanting assistance with workout programs. Also our cardio/weight room employees are trained to use each piece of equipment.
6) When can children use the WRSC?
In the fall and spring semesters dependents are allowed to enter during operational hours on the weekends. In the summer semesters and winter recess dependents may enter the facility during all operational hours.
7) Payroll Deduction - Since I am a faculty/staff member at UTPA, can I deduct my husband’s WRSC membership fee from my paycheck?
Currently, you are only allowed to deduct your own (Faculty/Staff) WRSC membership fee from your paycheck. We do not allow payroll dedcution for Spouse Memberships, Locker Rental Fees, or Towel Service.
8) Can I purchase a WRSC dependent membership for my step-children?
As long as you are the legal guardian and can provide proof of the relationship, step-children can obtain a WRSC membership.
9) Can I purchase a WRSC membership for my partner?
You must provide proof of the relationship. For more specifics, please contact the Membership Coordinator at 292-7808.
10) What do I have to do to reserve a certain location at the WRSC?
You must submit a facility reservation request form 2 weeks in advance to our Office Clerk. Depending on the request, equipment and staff charges may be administered.
