Program Info

The Student Leadership Academy is an intensive leadership development program that offers a wide variety of opportunities that complement the classroom experience. These opportunities can help you to develop your personal and professional skills.

All enrolled U.T.P.A. students may participate in the academy regardless of academic major or class standing. There are no admission requirements or fees. The academy is designed to be completed at your own pace and according to your own personal and career interests.

Whether you are looking to fulfill an Academy certificate requirement or simply attend a workshop to improve your leadership skills, the Student Leadership Academy has something for you. All students are welcome!

Leadership Seminars:
Seminars offered 2-4 times per month usually 1-2 hours in length, incorporating a speaker who offers expertise in a leadership area such as leadership development, service and volunteerism, ethical leadership, conflict resolution, goal setting, and much more. Seminars are interactive and open to all students unless stated otherwise.

Serve It Up: Dinner & Discussion Series
Usually 1-2 hours in length, an informal gathering where a University or Valley leader will share his or her insights on leadership with 15 academy members.

Complete Confidence in Communication
Offered 1-2 times per semester, designed to assist students in the development of leadership skills in the areas of public speaking, appearance and image, and meeting organization. Interactive and open to all students.

Customized Workshops
The Academy can assist in the creation of interactive workshops for special campus populations or student organizations requesting training in many aspects of leadership development.
