Veronica joined the UTPA Counseling Center staff in 2004 and provides counseling for a wide range of personal, academic and career concerns. In addition, she consults with faculty and staff and provides crisis intervention in psychological emergencies. She has conducted presentations on campus on topics such as Career Exploration, Stress Management, Handling Student Crises, and Transition to College Issues. Areas of professional interest include multicultural counseling, loss and grief issues, stress management, and personal growth.
Veronica received her Master of Social Work degree with a concentration on Children and Families from the University of Houston and earned her B.A. in Sociology from St. Mary's University, San Antonio, TX. Her past experience includes social work services and counseling for community health center patients, Mental Health and Mental Retardation caseworker for children and adolescents, and counseling and social services for patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
