Christopher Albert

Dr. Christopher Albert joined the CaPS staff as Clinical Supervisor in 2007. His main job duties are to provide oversight of clinical services provided by the therapists and trainees at the center and to conduct direct therapy and assessment services for student clients. Dr. Albert has been a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Texas since 2003. Areas of professional interest include mind/body medicine, multicultural and multilingual aspects of psychotherapy, anxiety and mood disorders, neuropsychology, developmental life span adjustment, existential psychotherapy, and men's issues. He is able to conduct psychological services in English, Spanish, and Portuguese languages.

Dr. Albert's experience in mental health care has included supervision of psychological treatment teams and coordination of mental health services in long-term care facilities; individual, group, and family-assisted psychotherapy in both a non-profit community mental health center and a private practice clinic; and both psychological and neuropsychological assessments for individuals across the life span. During his graduate education he earned a teaching fellow position for seven semesters and taught introductory psychology courses to undergraduate students. His published research projects have included evaluating a depression measure in Brazil, examining the relationship between social support and chronic fatigue syndrome, and exploring ways of communicating trends in psychology through a constructivist perspective.

Dr. Albert received his undergraduate training from the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 with a major in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology/Sociology. His graduate studies were at the University of North Texas where he earned his Masters of Science degree in Psychology in 1996 and his doctorate degree in Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine in 2002.
