About the Program

The Center Picture

The Center

The Child Development Center will provide a full-day environment for approximately 140 children, ages three months to four years. The CDC will offer full-time, five-day care with three- and two-day options. Each of the classrooms will be designed specifically for the comfort and ease of young children. The center will be protected via security doors and a fenced play area. The CDC will abide by the National Association of the Education for Young Children (NAEYC) standards for keeping low child to teacher ratios.

The Child Development Center understands the importance of bonding between an infant and the parent. The CDC offers mothers a private lactating room to provide for infant-mother bonding while she breastfeeds her child. The lactating room will also lend itself for a father to spend quality time feeding his child. The breastfeeding room is fully furnished with a rocking chair, changing table and equipped with dim lights and soft music.

The Child Development Center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Center provides breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack for all the children enrolled at the center. Each meal will be served family style in order to provide the children with an opportunity for socialization. Parents must submit a medical physician statement to the Center at least 30 days prior to the first academic day of class if their child requires the CDC to follow a special diet.

During the summer months, the multipurpose room is used for enrollment of children of ages 6-12 years.

Accreditation Picture

Accreditation

One of the first goals for the CDC is to obtain national accreditation from the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC accredited programs demonstrate a commitment to providing a high quality program for young children and their families. Great emphasis is placed on the quality of interaction among the staff and children and the developmental appropriateness of the curriculum. For more information on accreditation visit www.naeyc.org.

Staff Picture

Staff

The CDC is staffed with qualified individuals who have a love and understanding of children. The staff currently hold a Child Development Associates Credential, Associates Degree in Child Care & Development and a Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. The CDC staff also are certified in CPR and First Aid. The child-to-teacher ratio meets the NAEYC requirements.
