The Edinburg Pre-freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP) is an academically intense, mathematics-based, enriched program. The Program has a component that is presented in an eight-week session over the course of three summers.
The Program, which originated at the University of Texas-San Antonio in 1979, began as an extension at UTPA in 1986. The University of Texas-Pan American is one of twenty-five institutions in Texas offering the program, which provides educational enrichment opportunities for high ability 8th grade through 11th grade students interested in pursuing Mathematics, Science, or Engineering degrees.
The Primary Goal of TexPREP is to improve access to careers in Mathematics, Sciences, and Engineering. In order to achieve this goal, the program includes: academics, role modeling, mentoring, hands on experience, and career awareness.
