Entering Freshmen Invitation
Students who have been accepted to UTPA and have met TSI requirements will receive an invitation via mail. If you have been accepted and have not received your invitation please contact:

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Requirements:
Before reserving your New Student Orientation date, you will need to fulfill the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements. Students may take the THEA or Accuplacer to complete TSI requirements. For more information regarding test dates and registration, please contact the University Testing Center at (956) 292-7584.
Students may be eligible for exemptions based upon the following criteria:

Student Reservation:
After receiving your invitation follow these steps:
Step 1: Send your name, date of birth, the number of people attending and the date you wish to attend to the following e-mail address: orientation@utpa.edu.
Step 2: Complete the attached reservation form and send it with $15 non-refundable fee in the enclosed envelope. The remaining balance of the orientation fee will be charged to your student account at the time of enrollment.
Parent and Guest Reservation:
There will be a separate orientation for parents available only on Day 1 of the New Student Orientation Program. The cost per parent is $10 for a one day orientation. To register, simply indicate the number of parent(s) that will be attending in the reservation form enclosed in this brochure and send it with $10 non-refundable fee in the enclosed envelope.
Check In:
The check in for New Student Orientation will begin at 8 A.M. in the Lobby of the Student Union Building.
Parking:
Please park your vehicle in Parking Lot G, located on the south side of campus. If you park in a different area you will be subject to a parking citation.
Orientation Confirmation:
As soon as you reserve your seat, we will send you a confirmation card that includes your orientation date, location and parking information.
Remember to bring:
- Confirmation card
- Comfortable attire
- A great attitude!
Reservation Changes or Cancellations:
If you plan to change your orientation date, please notify the Admissions and New Student Services Office at 1-866-441-UTPA (8872) as soon as possible. If space allows, we will accommodate you in the next orientation program.
Special Accommodations:
Students requiring special accommodations should contact the Office of Services for Persons with Disabilities at 956/316-7005 at least five (5) days prior to the orientation date.
The New Student Orientation Office offers accommodations for individuals with disabilities. If you need special accommodations, contact the Admissions and New Student Services Office at 1-866-441-UTPA (8872).

| The student will be required to attend both the Financial Aid and Payment Option Presentations before or after their individual advisement session. If the student fails to attend the required sessions, a hold will be placed on their account and the student will be dropped from their classes. | ||
