Get Oriented to UTPA... Make Friends, Have Fun!
Congratulations on your acceptance to UTPA! The next step to transition to our University is to attend a two day New Student Orientation. All new students (transfer students as well as entering freshmen) are required to attend New Student Orientation.
Which Orientation is Right For Me?
Entering Freshmen Orientation is for students with fewer than 30 hours of college credit hours.
Transfer Orientation is for students with 30 or more college credit hours.
What's It All About?
During Orientation you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet with a faculty advisor/academic advisor
- Register for courses
- Listen to a financial aid presentation
- Listen to career building opportunities
- Explore a full array of student services and organizations
- Get your difficult transfer questions answered
- Become familiar with campus
- Establish networking contacts
During orientation you will
- Enhance your social integration into the college community by learning about the UTPA campus, clubs and organizations, student services, financial aid, academic programs and student life.
- Improve your college coping skills by interacting with incoming freshmen just like you and faculty and staff from UTPA.
- Increase your knowledge and utilization of campus-support services that will make your transition to UTPA a smooth and successful one.

Dress Comfortably:
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing and make sure to bring a sweater or light jacket.
