I have transfered to UTPA, what's next?

If you have already been admitted to UTPA, the next few steps will be orientation to the university, securing housing, financial aid, and scholarships. Please visit ASSIST - Web For Students for more information on your student record. Orientation, financial aid, scholarships, and holds on your record will be listed there.

I have already applied, what's next?

If you have already applied to UTPA, hang in there. The application review process can take 2-3 weeks! You will be receiving information in the mail and via email from the Office of Admissions and New Student Services.

What documents are required to transfer to UTPA?

If you are a first time college student, just graduating from high school, you must submit an official high school transcript, SAT or ACT test scores, a non-refundable application fee, and a completed Apply Texas Application. Your application will not be processed without ALL required documents and fee! Make sure to supply all materials to the Office of Admission before the application deadline.

How many students are enrolled at UTPA?

UTPA has a total of 17,048 students coming from 28 different states, although the majority come from Texas.

How many majors or careers are offered at UTPA?

UTPA offers 54 bachelor’s degree programs, 50 master’s, 2 doctoral, and one cooperative doctoral pharmacy program.

Campus tours are free and intended to familiarize visitors with the layout of the university while providing a general overview of the colleges and the degree programs available.

Did you know that you do not need an appointment to visit UTPA?

Get your questions answered about UTPA. 7:00 p.m. Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Walk-in visits are welcome during office hours.

What documents are required to transfer to UTPA?

If you are a transferring student with more than 30 hours official college credit, you must submit official college transcripts from ALL colleges or universities you have ever attended, $30 non-refundable application fee, and a completed Apply Texas Application (for transfer students).

How will I be classified when I transfer?

The number of transfer hours accepted at the time of admission determines a student's classification. These hours do not include coursework in progress. Verification of current classification is available via ASSIST.

What is the SCT-UTPA Transfer program?


What if I would like to come to UTPA but my gpa is low?

Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements are reviewed individually by the Admissions Committee. It is recommended that a student submit a personal statement along with the application and other documents.
