| Monica Raygada, Program Coordinator, recently joined the UTPA Office for Sustainability with a background on the private sector and specializing in communication. Her previous work includes the editorial field, where she has participated in and directed several publications and has experience in marketing and visual design. She has led and organized community service projects and environmental awareness programs. She received her Bachelor in Fine Arts with studies in Communication from the University of Nuevo Leon and holds a Certificate for Sustainable Development from Universidad Regiomontana. Her deepest passion and concern is to share knowledge that leads others towards efforts on conservation of our natural resources and quality of life improvement and her wish is to leave a legacy for her children to continue passing on: we have only one Earth and one life, let’s celebrate and preserve both.

| Ouina Rutledge, Grant Writer, has worked with the Office since April, 2010. Before coming to UTPA she worked with the City of McAllen Public Works for six years as Renewable Resources Manager. She received her Bachelor in Horticulture from Texas A&M College Station, and her Master in Natural Resources Management from The University of Alaska—Fairbanks. Mrs. Rutledge has a deep concern for the environment, and has since the seventies. Since moving back to the Rio Grande Valley, she has worked in her favorite interest: preservation and use of native plants. She brings a passion for conservation and sustainability, with a desire to pass this wisdom on to future generations.

Naomi Keith, Office Assistant, began working with the Office for Sustainability fulltime in September, 2012 after being on staff part time when she was hired in June, 2011. She comes to UTPA from the City of McAllen Recycling Center where she spent four years developing a passion for sustainability. With further background in purchasing and office management, she brings many assets to our team. She and her husband have been in the Valley for seven years and love the many new experiences it has brought to their lives.
