Biological Laboratory Safety

 

UTPA Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Plan - All UTPA personnel employing biological agents and recombinant DNA with significant potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens must be familiar with the requirements set forth in this plan. This manual is intended to assist all levels of management in implementing effective policies for the safe use of blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of employment at UTPA.

Safety Program for Personnel Involved in Animal Care – All research personnel who work with laboratory animals or animal tissues on a regular basis are incorporated into this program.

Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL) 5th Edition – Addresses the safe handling and containment of infectious organisms and hazardous biological materials.

Guidelines for Research involving Recombinant DNA Molecules – National Institutes of Health specifies practices for constructing and handling recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules, and organisms and viruses containing recombinant DNA molecules.
