The goal of the UTPA Department of Environmental Health and Safety Asbestos Safety Program is to prevent staff, faculty, and student exposure to asbestos, a dangerous substance found in over 3,000 building materials. The Asbestos Safety Program is also in place to provide information to the general public about asbestos.

Training

There are various levels of training required depending on the type of involvement with asbestos materials. Each division (i.e Physical Plant Department) is responsible for ensuring employees are trained for their level of asbestos involvement. Environmental Health and Safety can guide and assist in training.
