Community Service Officers (CSO)

Part-time Direct Wage Positions Available


The University of Texas Pan American, University Police Department, is a component member of the University of Texas System. The University Police Department has the duty and responsibility of providing law enforcement and security related services on a 24 hour basis to the University community. Services are provided to properties that are owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the UT System and component institution.

In order to extend and offer greater service to the UTPA community, the function of the CSO is to provide service and information to students, employees and visitors; to enforce the rules and regulations of a component institution of The University of Texas System pertaining to the operation and parking of vehicles on University property. 


General Qualifications

·         High school diploma or GED

·         Requires a valid Texas driver’s license, with acceptable driving record for past three years, or ability to obtain one upon hire.

·         Must be at least 18 years of age.

·         Knowledge of the UTPA campus is preferred.

·         Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits.

·         Ability to be trained in modern police methods, practices and procedures. Ability to satisfactorily complete departmental training requirements dealing with problem solving, radio usage, phone etiquette, customer service and parking enforcement.

·         Flexibility to work days, evenings or nights.

·         Pass a criminal history background check.
