Our aim is to provide students, staff, faculty and visitors a model environment in which they can work, study and learn.
Our University consists of over 400 acres including the Continuing Education Annex, the Coastal Studies Lab on South Padre, East Campus (Haggar Building) in Edinburg, Rio Grande Campus and Hidalgo Campus. We service approximately 15,000 students, faculty, staff and visitors.
The Department consists of 18 commissioned officers, 4 telecommunication officers, 5 full time guards, Parking & Traffic staff, and Administrative staff, as well as a number of temporary direct wage guards each semester.
Each cadet hired receives a minimum of 17-18 weeks of intensive training at The UT System Training Academy in Austin. Upon graduation, the officer participates in a Field Training Program prior to assuming full duties.
