The University of Texas-Pan American Police Department is here to ensure an environment that is conducive to the learning experience. We have a staff of commissioned and noncommissioned personnel. The commissioned personnel are state licensed police officers with state-wide jurisdiction. These officers are commissioned by The University of Texas System. The noncommissioned personnel assist with parking enforcement. Traffic and parking management is a vital part of our public safety efforts. We are service oriented and are committed to providing a quality service.
In December of 1994 through June of 1995 a
traffic and parking feasibility study was conducted. This independent study was conducted by Ortmann Planning & Design in association with HNTB, Charlier Associates, Olivarri & Associates Strategic Interfaces and The Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CEED). The study addressed the short, medium and long term parking and traffic needs of the University. This document will be used to enhance and improve parking and traffic services on campus.
The parking and traffic regulations are approved by the Traffic and Parking Committee, the Presidents Council and the Board of Regents. These rules are consistent with the recommendations and policies of The University of Texas System.
