EMPLOYEE EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT PROGRAM
The Educational Benefit Program is a partial tuition waiver available to UTPA employees. The purpose of the program is to encourage employees to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in their area of interest regardless of the degree's connection to the employee's present job.
The waiver will be available to all benefits-eligible full-time UTPA employees who have satisfactorily completed one continuous year of UTPA employment. Employees will be able to apply for tuition assistance for up to three credit hours per fall and spring semester or three credit hours per summer session for a total of six hours per fiscal year. The waiver only applies to courses taken at UTPA.
The implementation of the tuition waiver benefit is a response to the statewide UT System initiative to enhance the development of all system employees. For more information on the program, please contact Gilbert Perez Jr. at (956) 665-5025 or hroffice@utpa.edu.
Applications accepted starting Monday, March 26, 2012 for the following semesters:
Deadlines:
Mini-Term: Friday, April 27, 2012
Summer I: Friday, May 18, 2012
Summer II: Friday, June 22, 2012
All applications must be received at Human Resources by 5:00pm on the specified deadline date in order to be considered for the program.
Applications are accepted and processed in the order of which they are received. Program funding is subject to exhaustion.
Applications received at Human Resources outside of the application period indicated,will not be accepted nor processed.
