 Undergraduate Research Academy (Summer II Session)

Monday, July 28th, 9AM-4PM

The office of Undergraduate Research and Service Learning would like to invite students and faculty to attend our Undergraduate Research Academy on July 28th, from 9am-4:00pm (9-1 for faculty). 

The Research Academy will have sessions for students all day covering topics such as identifying a faculty mentor, writing for research, oral presentations, and better posters. There will be a workshop in the afternoon on applying for an Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI) Award. There will be sessions in the morning for faculty to provide an overview of undergraduate research support and programs on campus, including the URI. Lunch is provided and will be an opportunity for students and faculty to network. To register for the Research Academy, please log in to Bronclink for the online form.

The office of Undergraduate Research and Service Learning is pleased to offer supplemental funding for undergraduates engaged in academic experiences that require students cover expenses beyond normal academic fees and costs. These awards are competitive and are, therefore, evaluated in terms of the expected impact on the student applicant's experience, the necessity of the funding for the experience to take place, and the connection of the experience to academic enhancement. Awards are limited to $500, but any expense must be explained and clearly budgeted. These are not cash awards, but are funds that can be applied to allowable travel, materials, or other detailed expenses with appropriate documentation. 

To apply, students should fill out this form and upload a letter of support from a faculty sponsor. All fields are required. The faculty support letter does not necessarily have to be a UTPA faculty member. Students must agree to the terms of the award.
