Core Curriculum

The mission of the core curriculum at The University of Texas-Pan American is to provide you with a solid academic foundation that will prepare you to succeed in your chosen discipline and will encourage your development as a mature, life-long learner and engaged citizen. The purpose of the core curriculum is to provide undergraduate educational experiences across a broad range of intellectual and practical areas of inquiry. Every student who receives a baccalaureate degree from a Texas public institution of higher education, regardless of that students academic discipline or “major,” must complete the states general education core curriculum as part of their degree requirements.

You can get a detailed look at the courses that make up the UTPA core here, and for additional guidance on the Core, visit the Texas General Education Core Web Center.
