Short Term program

The short term or instructor led programs are conducted during the Winter-break, Mini-term, Summer I, and Summer II academic periods. OIP advisors assist students with the admission process for short term study abroad programs. These programs are taught by instructors from The University of Texas-Pan American, on occasion, professors from foreign universites may present lecture(s).

Step 1: Application
The application cycle is now open for Mini-Mester, Summer I & Summer II.

Applications for Mini-Mester & Summer I are due March 23, 2013, and Summer II are due June 1, 2013.

• Complete Student Application Form.
• Submit a letter of intent explaining your purpose and goals for the program you wish to enroll.
• Request a sealed letter of recommendation from a UTPA faculty member.
• Official transcript from the Registrar's Office in a sealed envelope.
  (Undergraduate: minimum 30 credits hours and 2.0 GPA / Graduate: 3.0 GPA)
• 2 passport pictures (2 x 2in)
• Copy of passport. If you don't have one please refer to travel.state.gov
• Participation Approval Form (must be signed by Dean of Students, Course Instructor, and Academic Advisor before meeting again with your OIP Advisor.)
• Release and Indemnification Agreement (Dean of Students Liability Form)
• International Health Disclosure Form (completed by student)

Step 2: Program Cost

• Program cost sheet (meet program cost payment deadline.)
• Pay NON-REFUNDABLE $125 deposit for study abroad application fee.

Step 3: Orientation & Pre-Departure Meeting

• International S.O.S. Registration

• Attend mandatory orientation and pre-departure meeting.
  (we do our best to have them during the activity hour on Tuesday and Thursday)
