China & Morocco: Cultural Immersion Programs
Cultural Immersion programs offer students the opportunity to see the world from another perspective. Students attend a foreign institution, enroll in courses and engage with local students on a daily basis. These programs consist of a thorough immersion in the country's language, as well as in its economy, political system, history, and more; all through interaction with the country's local and higher education leaders.
Cultural visits also offer the students the opportunity to travel to historical landmarks and interact in the native culture.
The University of Texas-Pan American IGkNU language and cultural immersion program is directed toward fostering global knowledge, understanding, and leadership skills for a new generation. The Integrated Global Knowledge and Understanding Collaboration(IGkNU) will offer immersion programs every year in strategic locations throughout the world in order to better prepare students to assume global leadership positions.
Two Cultural Immersion programs will be offered this year, to:
- Morocco:Minimester (May 16-June 3)*
- China:Summer I (TBA)

Scholarships are available to qualified students. Usually, these scholarships cover all the expenses which occur once in the country (lodging, meals, tuition, in-country transportation, etc.). In order to apply for the IGkNU scholarship, students must make an appointment with the Study Abroad advisor in charge of these programs at OIP; then complete the application package and make another appointment with the advisor to turn in the package along with the required documents and signatures. Once the deadline for applications is due, a selection committe meets and interviews students one by one.
