Biography
My name is Noe Ramirez. I am currently an associate professor at the University of Texas Pan American (Edinburg, Texas). I am from the Rio Grande Valley (San Benito) and committed to furthering my social work career in this area. My primary interests are in academia (research, publishing and teaching) and providing service to the local and international community.
Education
My credentials include a Bachelo’s in Social Work (BSW) from Pan American University, a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Our Lady of the Lake University, and a Doctorate in Social Work (Ph.D., 1998) from the University of Houston.
Professional Specialties
Sixteen (16) years of my work experience includes practice in: (1) rural development and planning (socioeconomic development, grant writing, housing, nutrition and transportation services to colonia residents and elderly persons); (2) social services (income assistance); (3) mental health (clinical treatment and work with interdisciplinary teams in acute inpatient, chemical dependency and transitional living units); (4) substance abuse counseling (drug, alcohol and dual disorders); and (5) clinical supervision in psychiatric settings.
Teaching
I have held a full time teaching position since 1998----teaching undergraduate and graduate courses including clinical assessment, social policy, community organization, micro practice, research, statistics, HBSE, clinical supervision and field liaison.
