Biography

 

 

Catherine A. Faver, Ph.D., LMSW, is a professor of social work at the University of Texas Pan American. Her recent scholarly work has focused on the connections between animal welfare and human well-being, including the link between animal abuse and intimate partner violence, the roles of companion animals in Latino families, animals and human spirituality, animal-assisted interventions with children, and humane education. She holds an MSSW from the University of Texas at Arlington and a PhD in social work and sociology from the University of Michigan. A native Texan, she has held faculty appointments at the University of Texas at Arlington (1979-1983) and the University of Tennessee (1983-2002).
