Biography
Sonja Arredondo, LMSW, is a full time Lecturer in the UTPA Department of Social Work. Ms. Arredondo, who was raised in the Rio Grande Valley, received a Master of Social Work degree from Worden School of Social Services of Our Lady of the Lake University She began her social work career as a public welfare worker in Brownsville, Texas She later transferred to Child Protective Services, where she spent 17 years. After leaving her position as Program Director for Child Protective Services, she entered the medical social work field as a Department Director and as a front line social worker. During this time, she taught social work classes at STC and at UTPA. She joined the UTPA Social work faculty in August 2006.
