Welcome
Welcome to the University of Texas – Pan American (UTPA) / University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) College of Pharmacy (COP), Cooperative Pharmacy Program (CPP) web site. The goal of the web site is to provide information about the CPP and pharmacy profession! To describe a little about the CPP, UTPA in cooperation with the UT Austin COP offers a six-year curriculum leading to the "Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)" degree. The PharmD degree is the sole entry-level degree offered in the Unites States for those interested in becoming a licensed pharmacist. The PharmD is a professional doctorate designed to prepare pharmacists to provide patient-oriented care in contemporary health care environments.
The UTPA CPP was developed to encourage students from the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo Regions to pursue pharmacy as a professional career. The CPP offers students the opportunity to complete the pre-pharmacy and part of the pharmacy curriculum at UTPA and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley.
The CPP offers two admissions pathways, high school and transitional. The first admissions pathway is for graduating high school students who have chosen pharmacy as an intended major. The second admissions pathway is for students who have completed the majority of their pre-pharmacy training at UTPA and are ready to begin their pharmacy education. Students admitted into the CPP, whether through the high school or transitional pathway, are afforded conditional admissions to the UT Austin COP. Matriculation depends upon successful completion of the pharmacy pre-requisites and other CPP requirements.
Please visit the specific web page (select from the listings to the left) for more detailed information about each admissions pathway. Thank you for your interest in the CPP!
