UTPA ROTC COMPETES IN SECTIONAL "RANGER CHALLENGE" COMPETITION.
Students from UTPA ROTC participated in a grueling three day event which tested their physical, mental and emotional attributes.
The event took place 16-18 Oct 2009 at Camp Bullis, Texas which is located 35 miles North of San Antonio. The event pits teams from seven other Universities in the UT system and is the Varsity sport for ROTC. There were 140 individuals participating in eight different events.
Cadet Command Sergeant Major Imelda Rodriguez was recognized for the highest Army Physical Fitness Test score of all females competing. Her score was 341 points using the Army's extended scale.
Ranger Challenge Teams earned 1st Place honors in three events:
Written Examination
Hand Grenade Assault Course
First Aid Obstacle Course
"GO BRONCS"
ALBERTO CASTRO, a UTPA ROTC Freshman, takes 1st Place in McAllen 2nd Annual Awareness Cycle Race of 60 miles.
The event was held on Saturday November 7th, 2009 with the start and finish on 2nd Street in McAllen, TX.
