Psychology Club

The Psychology Club is a student organization open to all students with an interest in psychology, regardless of major. Activities vary from year to year but often include organized trips to regional and national psychology conferences, invited speakers, community service projects, and research activities.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is the national psychology honor society. The UTPA chapter usually meets twice a month. As an honors society, membership in Psi Chi is based on demonstrated academic excellence. The membership requirements include: an overall GPA of at least 3.0, completion of 3 semesters, completion of 9 semester hours of psychology courses, a minimum GPA of 3.0 in psychology classes. Further information about Psi Chi, including membership application forms, can be found at http://www.psichi.org.

Both the Psychology Club and Psi Chi meet at least twice monthly. For current information on meeting dates/times and locations, check the whiteboard in the Psychology Department office. Drs. Grant Benham (gbenham@panam.edu) and Amy Weimer are the faculty advisors for Psi Chi and the Psychology Club.

Anthropology Club

The Anthropology Club at The University of Texas-Pan American is an organization made up of students and non-students who share an interest in anthropology and is closely associated with the Anthropology Program at the university. Our goal is to promote the study of culture not only on the UTPA campus but within and outside the Rio Grande Valley as well. To reach our goal, we engage in activities such as sponsoring top lecturers and organizing field trips to sites of anthropological significance. Our faculty sponsors are Dr. Shelia Pozorski and Dr. Tom Pozorski, both interested in the study of Andean archaeology.
