Description of Graduate Certificate


The Graduate Certificate in Global Security Studies and Leadership provides students with the foundation skills necessary for careers in intelligence and national security.  The certificate program is also an excellent program for professionals currently employed in security or intelligence related jobs who are trying to enhance their expertise in their field.  Students will complete a series of courses that focus on advanced research methods and critical analysis proficiency.  In these courses, students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills gained to relevant research problems involving global security issues.

Graduate Certificate courses include:

•    Introduction to Global Security Studies
•    Interdisciplinary Research in Social Sciences and Health Sciences
•    Open Source Research
•    Practicum in Global Security Studies

REQUIREMENTS:

1. 2.75 undergraduate GPA or above
2. 3 letters of reference
3. Current resume
4. All academic transcripts
5. Letter of intent stating purpose for entering the program

* Note: GRE scores are not required for application at this time

HOW TO APPLY:

1.    Students must apply to graduate school at www.utpa.edu/gradapply
2.    Once admitted to the GSSL program, an advising appointment must be made with Dr. Constantine Tarawneh before enrolling for courses. Appointments can be made electronically at crown.panam.edu/GSSL/schedules/

Students should bring their advising forms (http://crown.panam.edu/GSSL/form1.doc), transcripts, and resume to the appointment.
