Society of Hispanic Pro Engineers
The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was reestablished in 1996 by Fred Salinas with the assistance of the Engineering Department.
The UTPA SHPE chapter believes in promoting the development of Hispanics in engineering, math, and science in order to achieve educational excellence. Specifically, we believe in professional development, chapter development, and community outreach programs that will benefit both the chapter’s members and the community. The SHPE chapter of UTPA has significantly grown, but none of this would have been possible if it was not for the chapter members.
