Degree Requirements

Minor in Sociology

The sociology minor requires the completion of 18 semester hours in sociology. Nine semester hours must be advanced (3000-4999 course level). Sociology majors cannot minor in Sociology.

SOCI 1313 Principles of Sociology
SOCI 4333 Social Theory and/or SOCI 4352 Social Inequality

Major in Sociology

The sociology major requires the completion of 33 semester hours in sociology. Required core courses consist of 12 semester hours. 21 hours of electives are required, of which 15 must be advanced (3000-4999 course level).

SOCI 2301 Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences
SOCI 3301 Research Methods
SOCI 4333 Social Theory

Sociology electives:  21 hours

6 hours of Basic Electives (1000-4999)
