Mrs. Anna Garcia started her teaching career in the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District. After working for five years as an elementary teacher, she moved to San Isidro Independent School District where she was employed as a district principal.
The past 11 years have generated numerous success stories for her three level campuses: elementary, junior high, and high school. The school district has earned exemplary designation for 75% or more of the time that she has led the schools.
Additionally, Mrs. Garcia’s efforts have generated exemplary designations for two out of the three campuses every year. The campus with the non-exemplary designation has earned no less than a recognized rating. An exemplary designation for all three levels has occurred eight out of eleven years.
Mrs. Garcia enjoys an excellent academic track record in one of South Texas’ rural school district. The isolated setting for the multiple level school campus has paid off academically because of the leadership, dedication and commitment from the educational community and devoted parents and students.
In other areas, Mrs. Garcia’s students are very competitive in school sponsored competition and events. Her campuses compete at local, regional, and state UIL meets. The plaques that adorn the display shelves and walls are testaments to the high expectations held by Mrs. Garcia, teachers and staff as she continuously works to make San Isidro students competitive in academics, scholarships and well rounded future leaders. The school district enjoys a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school designation.
Mrs. Garcia earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UTPA. She is an outstanding example of the leadership success stories and alumni from UTPA, the Dept. of Educational Leadership.
