Manufacturing Engineering

Program Educational Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives (PEO) of the Manufacturing Engineering Program at The University of Texas-Pan American are to produce graduates who:

  • have the knowledge and technical skills required to be and to remain productive in the field of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • have an understanding of the importance of professionalism, ethics, safety and socioeconomic concerns in resolving technical problems.
  • are capable of functioning in diverse environments.

The Bachelor of Science Manufacturing Engineering degree is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET). The goal of the program is to provide a level of experience to permit students to step directly into either industry jobs or pursue graduate school. Class sizes are small to ensure students receive personal attention. The BS MfgE degree emphasizes innovation and creativity through practical experience, including more laboratory hours than any other engineering degree in the state. Laboratories feature realistic problems and primarily industrial and research grade instrumentation and equipment. All engineering students at UT Pan American have opportunities to work with instrumentation available mainly to graduate students at most institutions.
