Bilingual Education M.Ed
Program Overview

A central goal of educators is to provide equitable educational opportunities to all children, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, language, culture, or socioeconomic status. Diversity in all educational programs must be perceived and embraced as educational opportunities for the enrichment of all children, instead of liabilities (deficiencies) that must be corrected. One of the most controversial programs, bilingual education, is committed to this goal.

This innovative and unique masters program in bilingual education is designed to develop master teachers with a thorough understanding of effective enrichment bilingual education programs and practices that would not only meet the educational needs of Spanish speakers, but would also provide bilingual/biliterate/bicultural enrichment opportunities for all children. This master's degree program, unlike many others, prepares "dual experts" in several areas to promote and support enrichment bilingual education related to supporting fields.
